While we highly recommend that creative individuals and organizations join as members to unlock the benefits associated with membership, we also welcome one-time use of our spaces for events  aligned with the space’s objectives, which encompass design, art, culture, social impact, sustainability and community engagement, subject to a fee.

OUR SPACES

The Courtyard

The Courtyard is one of the public open spaces of the VDC. Formerly one end of Old Mint Street, the area is now equipped with sofas, armchairs and tables which can be used during opening hours to relax, work and connect. The Courtyard enjoys natural light through its glass ceiling, as well as artworks and a lovely green wall.

The Roof Garden

The Roof Garden is an award-winning public space in Valletta, covering the full roof space over the main building of the Valletta Design Cluster. The Roof Garden includes a roof pavilion (for meetings/workshops at roof level), a small pond, a small seating area, two multifunctional spaces for small group meetings or open-air workshops, and, of course, green spaces with mostly local trees and shrubs on most of the roof area. The Roof Garden is fully accessible by lift and by stairs and is publicly accessible during standard opening hours.

Friggieri Hall

The Friggieri Hall is the largest indoor space at the VDC, accessible by stairs or lift. Located on the first floor of the building, the Friggieri Hall develops over 89sqm, which can be partitioned in two smaller rooms. The room offers tables, chairs, an interactive monitor, Wi-Fi internet connection for different activities such as conferences (the room can take up to 80 people seated in theatre style or 30 in board room style), workshops, readings, presentations, and more.

Meeting Rooms

Our Meeting Rooms are versatile spaces typically offering one large table, chairs, limited storage space, a television (most of which are also equipped with videoconferencing facilities) and Wi-Fi internet connection. Located on different levels within the VDC building, the Meeting Rooms may be used for meetings, workshops, brainstorming sessions, pop-up exhibitions and much more within the historic setting of Valletta’s Old Abattoir.

The Coworking Space

The Valletta Design Cluster includes up to twenty co-working stations equipped with desk plug-in services, basic storage and a lounge space. Those in need of a space where to work independently for a few hours per day can make use of the co-working facilities of the Valletta Design Cluster within an open-plan layout shared with others. Students, freelancers, creative practitioners, and visitors to Valletta requiring a basic work space may benefit from these co-working stations, which also serve as a hub of cultural and creative activity.

The Makerspace and Foodspace

The Valletta Design Cluster is equipped with professional kitchens and state of the art CNC equipment for wood and metal working, 3D printing and scanning, electronics, sewing, embroidery and much more.
