Agħti Widen – a performance celebrating Malta’s cultural identity

The Valletta Cultural Agency is presenting “Agħti Widen” (Take Heed), a spectacular production which combines a symphonic recital with a vibrant video backdrop featuring themes of Maltese ritual, nature, crafts and feasts. “Agħti Widen” shall be taking place at Pjazza Teatru Rjal on the 10th and 11th September at 8pm.

This project will take its audience on a journey through orchestral music and video projections … as well as the authentic sounds of Malta interwoven into a unique narrative. The sounds of crashing waves, Valletta bell towers, traditional crafts (and more) compliment the orchestration of the music enhanced by a display of stunning visuals.

The orchestral score for “Agħti Widen” is composed by Ruben Zahra who is well renowed in the contemporary music scene of Malta. Besides composing the music, Zahra also directed the videography of the entire project with the support of a professional crew.

“Agħti Widen” also features a script by Maltese writer Trevor Żahra interpreted by child actress, 11 year old Kassidy Calleja. “Agħti Widen” features the participation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of conductor Pavel Šnajdr and KorMalta under the direction of choir master Riccardo Bianchi.

Tickets can be bought from showshappening.com.

This presentation will be held under the aegis of H.E George Vella, the President of Malta.
This activity has been approved by the Public Health Authority and will be held according to the regulations issued by the Public Health Authority.
