Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman, Jason Micallef, together with the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici, announced this open-air six-day film screening event at Laparelli Gardens, in Valletta during a press conference this afternoon.
Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici said, “This event builds on our commitment to celebrate culture in its various genres and to continue supporting artists and, in this case, the film industry. We remain committed to continue expanding cultural activities in the capital and around the island,” Minister Bonnici added.
Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef said that the Agency is committed to continue with the economic, social and cultural regeneration of Valletta. Cinema City is a celebration of film screenings in the open, including Maltese films and builds on the enormous success of the Valletta Green Festival which was held just a few days ago.
The films will be shown at 9pm as per the following schedule:
5th June – Inglourious Basterds (18)
6th June – The Book of Life (U)
7th June – Blood on the Crown (12A)
8th June – Merjen (18)
9th June – Sideways (16)
10th June – Back to the Future (U)
The Valletta Cultural Agency invited audience members to become active participants in this film screening event. Volunteers were asked to watch a number of movies falling under different genres, out of which the six films were selected to be screened. The public may enjoy these outdoor screenings free of charge.
