Details of the Valletta National NYE 2021 Show announced

The Valletta National New Year’s Eve 2021 Variety Show, which will be broadcasted on TVM, Net and One, will this year replace the event that is usually held in Valletta ushering in the New Year.

The Valletta Cultural Agency together with the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Jose Herrera, today gave details of the three-hour show during a press conference at Piazza D’Armi, Fort St Elmo. Due to Covid-19 safety measures, the show is not open to the public and will be live on television from 10pm to 1am.

The line-up for the evening includes the Palace String Orchestra which is made up of 12 musicians under the direction of Ryan Paul Abela, who will be accompanied by some of Malta’s top artists including Amber, Aidan, Jasmine and Kevin Paul. The night will also feature local comedy team – Min Imissu? Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Ember Trio will be performing in different iconic Valletta landmarks including inside St John’s Co-Cathedral and are a highlight of the show.

During the show special guests Ember Trio, Britain’s Got Talent 2020 semi-finalists will feature with their energetic performances in some of Valletta’s iconic locations. The variety show will be hosted by Ben Camille, together with Andreana DeBattista.

A special fireworks display will take off from the iconic Grand Harbour and its surroundings at midnight.

The Valletta National New Year’s Eve 2021 Variety Show is organised by G7 Events, supported by a Partnership Agreement for Large-Scale Events and Initiatives with the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government.

Minister Jose Herrera said the nation’s courage and resilience during 2020 will lead us to look ahead at 2021 positively, with aspiration and determination that we will soon be on the road to normality. For this reason we believe this is a positive initiative because while we are adapting to the present reality, we nonetheless presentign a telivised spectacle of the highest standards to the Maltese public.

Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef said, “Due to the ongoing situation with Covid19, the New Year’s Eve celebrations will this year take place as a live show on all three major local television stations TVM, One and Net, in a spectacle of national unity. The Valletta Cultural Agency has made sure that it continues to raise people’s spirits during the special night with another quality event from Fort St Elmo and other locations in Valletta, while sharing hope for the year to come”.
