Christmas in the City announced

Since the COVID-19 restrictions have been reduced, the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government José Herrera and the Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef launched the programme of activities in Valletta which will be taking place during the days leading to Christmas and the New Year.

These activities will start on the 22nd of November and end on the 31st of December.

During a press conference, Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government José Herrera said that this programme is being announced after a number of a pilot events with a fully vaccinated audience took place. The Minister also said that as the country is now returning to normality, we are urging people to attend these activities which are being organised according to the Health Autorities’ regulations, and enjoy the Christmas spirit in our capital city.

Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef said that this will be the first post-pandemic Christmas. This is going to be the largest Christmas in Valletta, with the largest amount of activities and attractions for all the family, which will start on the 22 of November and will keep on going till the 31st of December. There are also going to be activities every day from the 25th of November till the 25th of December.

This programme includes a wide range of activities including musical, theatrical and joyful events which will put the audience in the Christmas spirit.

On New Year’s Eve popular British singer John Newman will perform in Valletta. John Newman is known for several popular songs including “Feel the Love”, “Not Giving In”, “Love Me Again”, “Fire in Me” and “Feelings”. In addition to Newman, Debrii and the Palace String Orchestra featuring Aidan, Gaia, Jasmine, Klinsmann, Megan and Ozzylino are also going to perform on New Year’s Eve. This event will be presented by Abel, JD and Martina.

The main events include: Light decoration, Christmas trees, projections, music from the speakers in Republic Street, theatrical activities, musical activities, puppet shows, Blind Date with a Book and the Crib in St John’s square.
